Carolina Aguilar +

Carolina Aguilar is the CEO and Co-Founder of INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer leading the development of graphene-based brain–computer interfaces. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, including 13 years at Medtronic heading global neuromodulation and diabetes businesses, she has a proven track record in scaling innovation. Under her leadership, INBRAIN has raised over $100M, achieved FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, and delivered the world’s first graphene neural implant to humans. Passionate about transforming neurotechnology into life-changing therapies, Carolina is shaping the future of precision neuroelectronics worldwide.

With +15 years of experience in medical device development and program management, Ane Lizarazu leads the Project Management Office with a strong focus on execution, innovation, and strategic alignment. She has successfully managed highly technological products from concept to commercialization, primarily within Class III medical devices, including cardiovascular, neurovascular, and neuro-active implants. Known for bridging strategy and execution, Ane has played a key role in building startup organizations from the ground up, transforming ambitious visions into structured development programs and operational realities. Her ability to translate company strategy into clear tactical plans and cross-functional alignment is recognized as one of her greatest strengths. Passionate about innovation and team empowerment, she brings a pragmatic and results-oriented leadership style to every stage of product development.

Ana brings over 15 years of experience building, scaling, and transforming businesses across venture capital, entrepreneurship, technology, and healthcare. At INBRAIN, she leads Product Development, Strategy & Commercialization, driving the translation of breakthrough graphene-based neurotechnology into products that can meaningfully improve patients’ lives. Prior to joining INBRAIN, Ana was VP of New Business at Glovo, where she led multiple business units across international markets and was responsible for launching, scaling, and transforming new growth initiatives as part of the company’s executive leadership team. Before Glovo, she was a Partner at Antai Venture Builder, where she led the creation and scaling of over 10 startups, leading venture selection, fundraising, and company building across a diverse portfolio of high-growth businesses. Ana began her career in mergers and acquisitions advisory, developing expertise in investment analysis, valuation, and strategic decision-making. She holds a degree in Finance from ESADE Business School and is passionate about turning disruptive innovation into scalable businesses with lasting impact.

Willem brings over 20 years of experience in the neurotechnology industry. He spent the bulk of his career at Medtronic, where he led commercial teams across Europe in Neuromodulation, Cranial Neurosurgery and Spinal Solution, most recently heading the largest European country cluster. Driven by common sense, a sense of humor and a ‘hate-to-lose’ mentality, Willem drives execution in complex environments and builds highly motivated teams around him. He holds a Masters degree in Biology — and plays saxophone in the Inbrain House Band.

Jerome Crocco +

Jerome Crocco is a technology and operations executive with more than two decades of experience leading integration, scale-up, and commercialization of advanced semiconductor and medical device technologies. His mission in the medical device field has been the translation of breakthrough technologies into products that improve human health and quality of life. As Chief Operating Officer of INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, Jerome leads the manufacturing technology group for process integration, new product introduction (NPI), Facilities, and manufacturing operations for the company’s graphene-based neurotechnology platform. He supports the scaling and transformation of INBRAIN into a world class manufacturing operation, driving continuous improvements in production capacity, yield, process control, and manufacturing readiness. Prior to joining INBRAIN, Jerome served as Chief Technology Officer of DPIX, a leading Gen 4.5 Flat Panel Foundry, focused on large area medical X-ray Imaging systems for Philips/Siemens/Thales/Varex. During his tenure, some of the core activities included delivering 50+ NPI to market, leading technical development of IGZO transistor technology, and supporting the commercialization and reliability of flexible imaging products. He holds a Bachelors in Mathematics, a Masters in Photonics, and Ph.D. in Physics. A Chicago native, listens to blues and jazz, and content in the mountains, whether that's the Rockies or the Pyrenees.

Matteo Donega +

VP of Translational Science & Intelligence

Matteo leads the Translational Science and Data Intelligence team where he supports the development of graphene-based brain–computer interface therapies for neurological disorders. He earned his PhD in Clinical Neurosciences from the University of Cambridge (UK), where his research focused on implantable neurotechnology aimed at restoring function after paralysis. In 2015, he joined Galvani Bioelectronics, a joint venture between GlaxoSmithKline and Google Life Sciences, where he held several roles advancing bioelectronic medicine through translational neuromodulation strategies. His work integrated large-animal models, multimodal biomarker discovery, and early clinical studies to support the development of precision neuromodulation therapies. At INBRAIN, Matteo leads a multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of neuroscience, engineering, and artificial intelligence. His work integrates advanced neurophysiology, translational modeling, and machine learning to transform neural signals into adaptive, data-driven therapies. His work focuses on bridging therapeutic vision with product development through rigorous pre-clinical and early clinical validation, contributing to the next generation of precision medicine.

Dan Gnansia +

Dan s a clinical research and innovation leader with 15 years of experience advancing evidence-based adoption of implantable neurotechnologies. During his tenure at Oticon Medical, he led international clinical collaborations and contributed to building the clinical evidence required for regulatory approval and market access in cochlear implantation worlwide. Since 2022, he has headed clinical development at INBRAIN, guiding the translational strategy for breakthrough graphene-based brain neuromodulation technologies. His work focuses on bridging early-stage innovation, regulatory science, and real-world clinical implementation to accelerate responsible access to next-generation neurotechnologies.

Bill Phillips +

Head of Engineering

Bill is an accomplished R&D leader with extensive experience in neuromodulation, having led the development of innovative products across Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation, and targeted drug delivery therapies. Over the past 25 years, Bill has led global engineering and cross-functional teams through all phases of product development, with a strong focus on successfully bringing Class III medical devices to market. He is the inventor of 48 patents and was honored with Medtronic’s prestigious Patent of Distinction Award, recognizing an invention of exceptional value to the company and one that has delivered significant therapeutic benefits to patients. As Head of Engineering, Bill will lead INBRAIN’s engineering organization, driving innovation through product development and advancing breakthrough technologies that will transform patient care and bring pioneering solutions to market.

Michel was with INBRAIN since 2019, contributing in various capacities, including interim Head of Manufacturing, IP advisor, leadership coach and executive consultant. He currently advises the INBRAIN Leadership Team, IP strategy, and drives the Managers Academy. He served 2020-2024 on the INBRAIN Board of Directors. 1996 - 2010, Michel was a Principal Scientist at Philips Research, Eindhoven. He initiated and lead the Philips Research neurotechnologies programme in 2005, and lead the creation of the Healing Environments programme in 2010. Together with two former Philips colleagues, Michel founded Sapiens Steering Brain Stimulation B.V. in 2011, as a spin-off from Philips Research, Eindhoven (NL). He served as a CTO at Sapiens, leading the technology activities of Sapiens’ first implant development. Sapiens B.V. was acquired by Medtronic in August 2014, where he served as Director of Research & Technology until 2017. Michel co-founded Salvia Bioelectronics mid-2017, and his consulting firm Ishinden in 2018. As a self-employed startup consultant and coach, and executive coach at van Ede, NL, Michel delivered more than 600 hours of coaching to more than 100 professionals. He obtained an Existential Coach MA with distinction from the NSPC/U. Middlesex, London, UK, 2023-2025.

Jurriaan Bakker +

Jurriaan Bakker is Chief Technology Officer at INBRAIN Neuroelectronics and INNERVIA Bioelectronics, where he leads the development of graphene-based neural interface technology for brain and peripheral nerve applications. He brings more than 15 years of experience in medical device research and development, spanning neurostimulation and active implantable systems. Before joining INBRAIN, Jurriaan was Director of Product Development and System Architect at ONWARD Medical (IPO on Euronext BRU/AMS in 2021), where he defined the platform architecture for both the ARC-IM implantable and ARC-EX external stimulation products, developing therapies to restore function in people with spinal cord injury. Earlier, he worked at Medtronic following its acquisition of Sapiens Steering Brain Stimulation (2014), and at Erasmus University Medical Center. Jurriaan holds a PhD in Medicine and Health from Erasmus University Medical Center and an MSc in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology.

As VP of Quality, Regulatory and Market Access at INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, he leads the development and implementation of our global quality and regulatory strategy — bridging the gap between groundbreaking science, breakthrough devices and medical compliance. He leads the market access strategy, redefining traditional clinical outcomes to enable value-based healthcare, leveraging INBRAIN's graphene-based platform to treat neurological disorders with unprecedented precision.

With a strong Business background, Eduard worked in investment banking for more than 5 years, mainly at Deutsche Bank. After some time pursuing an opportunity to create something valuable, Eduard co-founded Nutrino to help people live healthier and better. As co-founder he led the Finance, fundraising M&A and general Business Development. Nutrino was finally sold to Medtronic in late 2018. Analytical, hard worker and with a bit of common sense Eduard acted as CFO at Glovo, one of the most relevant startups in the delivery space worldwide. Eduard joined in September 2017 and until summer 2025 helped Glovo to expand to 23 countries, +1500 cities, raised multiple rounds of financing and completed the acquisition to Delivery Hero in 2022.
